In Uzbekistan, the Week of Cultural Heritage has opened
In Tashkent, from July 3rd to 7th, 2023, the Week of Cultural Heritage “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan - the Foundation of a New Renaissance” and the International Week of Partnership Initiatives “New Uzbekistan: Development, Innovation, and Enlightenment” will take place. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with several ministries and departments. It is expected that over a thousand participants and guests from approximately 60 countries around the world will take part in these events.
During the week, exhibitions showcasing the cultural heritage of the Timurid era, masterpieces of folk applied art, and avant-garde paintings preserved in Uzbekistan will be held in museums of our capital. In addition, conferences on topics such as “New Uzbekistan on the Path to Sustainable Development”, “Conducive Business Environment”, “Healthy and Educated Society”,
“Quality Education and Innovation as the Basis for a Stable Future”, “Bridging Regions” and “Land Where Human Dignity is Respected” will be conducted. Round table discussions, meetings, and presentations are also planned.
The opening ceremony of the Week of Cultural Heritage took place in the event hall of the capital. The event was attended by relevant ministries and departments, representatives of international and foreign organizations, as well as figures from the fields of culture and arts, journalists, and bloggers.
During the opening ceremony, a video was shown highlighting the processes of renewal in the cultural and educational sphere of our country. The speakers at the ceremony emphasized the attention given in recent years to the development of creativity, culture, and the arts in our country.
“Today, countries compete with each other on a global scale not only based on their economic capabilities but also on their values and culture”, said Sadyk Safayev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. “In its foreign policy, Uzbekistan also relies primarily on its cultural potential. Thanks to this, our country is shaping its international image. The cultural events that are starting today are also aimed at promoting the culture and values of Uzbekistan”.
“This conference brings together creative individuals, representatives of culture and the arts," emphasized the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ozodbek Nazarbekov. "Collaboration and international relations are developing, and representatives of the cultural sphere in our country play an important role in this. The Week that opens today will further strengthen this collaboration and spread the fame of Uzbek culture and art”.
“We are grateful for the attention given to the development of national cinema in the New Uzbekistan”, said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, the Director of the Film Agency. “The construction and operation of a new event hall, built according to international standards and intended for the presentation of new creative projects, is a vivid proof of such high attention”.
“They say that time is the ultimate decider”, said People's Artist of Uzbekistan Khairulla Sa'diyev. “Once, we could only dream of such grand art palaces. Today, those dreams are coming true. Massive changes are taking place in our country, across all areas, including culture and education. In recent years, Uzbekistan has hosted a series of international cultural events, including the International Forums of Makom and Bakhshi Arts, and the Tashkent International Film Festival”.
“Three years ago, at a prestigious gathering held here in the “Uzbekfilm” building, the question of restoring the former glory of Uzbek cinema was raised”, said Matyokub Matchanov, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Association of Cinematographers of Uzbekistan. “In a short period of time, Uzbek cinema has been revived, and dozens of our new films have been seen by the world. Many films created by Uzbek filmmakers have gained international recognition at prestigious film conferences and festivals. All of this is the result of great attention given to Uzbek cinema. In the future, we will strive to regain the trust of our people through our new films, achievements, and successes on the international level”.
The solemn ceremony was accompanied by festive celebrations, impressive performances, musical acts, and entertaining shows.
