JEWELRY OF UZBEKISTAN IN THE WORLD COLLECTIONS

For five years of work, the project Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections has revealed the richest collections of jewelry from Uzbekistan in various museums around the world. This book-album is dedicated to these collections. In it, the reader will be able to see wonderful examples of necklaces, tiaras, earrings and other jewelry stored in museums in Russia, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the most interesting examples of jewelry art from national museums. Thus, the volume presents extremely rare jewelry dated to the Karakhanid period and gold filigree made at the time of the Mongol conquests. Most of the preserved material is was made by zargar jewelers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Thanks to these collections, we can imagine what the Karakalpak brides looked like, what jewelry the residents of Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent wore. Collected for the first time in one edition, these masterpieces are the clearest evidence of the brilliant development of jewelry in the country.
