Volume 24 (part 4), dedicated to the collection of manuscripts in the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, includes unique handwritten works on such topics as Islam, philosophy and Sufism. The catalog also includes unique copies of the Quran and commentaries on them, among which is Ishaq al-Kunawi by Abu Ali Ibn Sina (Avicenna). The most ancient handwritten interpretation of the Quran, Commentary on Al-Wahidi's Quran by Abu'l-Hassan al-Wahidi, belongs to the pre-Mongol period (1204). The volume also includes works on topics such as Islamic law and philosophy, including the works of Imam al-Bukhari, as well as works by other famous theologians and theorists of Sufism, numerous biographies of sheikhs and religious essays. Among the authors of these works are Jami and Kashifi. Due to their thematic orientation, the manuscripts do not contain colorful miniatures, but they feature impeccable calligraphy made in various scripts, gilded ornamental frames and other original designs. In 2000, the manuscript collection of the Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan was listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World program as one of the richest manuscript repositories in the world.
