THE CULTURAL LEGACY OF UZBEKISTAN IN MOSCOW MUSEUMS
Description
This volume unites collections of Uzbek items kept in two museums in Moscow — the State Historical Museum and the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art. The artifacts presented in the catalogues are arranged chronologically and according to the types of craft, reflecting the diversity and richness of the artistic heritage of Uzbekistan. Archaeological finds from the State Historical Museum, characterizing the culture of ancient civilizations in the region, deserve special attention. The All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art possesses an interesting collection of Uzbek ceramics, which was created by Tashkent masters in the early 1930s for the Paris International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in 1925, the Paris World Exhibition in 1937 and the New York Exhibition in 1939. Participation in these exhibitions was a bright triumph for Uzbek masters.
