In Bukhara, architectural inscriptions have been preserved mainly on mosques and madrassahs. They are made of different materials (terracotta, faience, ganch, wood and marble), in various scripts, including Kufi, Thuluth and Naskh. The earliest terracotta inscriptions adorn the buildings of the early 12th century, including Namazgah. In the album there are also two monuments of funerary epigraphy. One of them is the ceramic tombstone, the oldest known in Bukhara, over the 9th-century grave of Abu Hafs Kabir and a kayrak discovered in the so-called library of Khwaja Muhammad Pars. The album also contains inscriptions from such architectural monuments as Hazrat Imam, Sayyid Poband mausoleum, Magoki Attari and Mir Dostum mosques, Poyi-Kalan, Chashma Ayyub, Sarrafan, Khoja Zainiddin and Kosh-Madrassah ensembles. The album also presents archival photos of the sights of the city.
