Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan: A Treasure for Future Generations

On May 24, 2024, in Syrdarya region, a significant event took place - the presentation of certificates for the gratuitous receipt of books on the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.

Organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies, the event gathered over 300 book recipients.

At the media event “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan: Light from the Depths of Centuries,” the presentation of 20 volumes of books revealing the secrets of inscriptions on the country's architectural monuments took place. These publications are a unique source of knowledge about the region's rich cultural heritage. The presentation included speeches by authors and scholars such as Faizkhuja Makhmudov and Khamidullo Lutfullaev, who shared their research and highlighted the significance of each volume.

Advisor on enhancing the effectiveness of spiritual and educational work of the Khokimiat of the Syrdarya region, Gaybulla Yusupov, emphasized the importance of these books in fostering a sense of pride among the youth for the extensive cultural heritage of their ancestors. “Providing copies of the book to all general education schools and information and library centers in the region contributes to a deeper understanding and study of architectural monuments,” he noted.

"We would like to thank the Khokimiyat of Syrdarya region, the Syrdarya Regional Department of Preschool and School Education, and the Syrdarya Regional Youth Affairs Agency for their assistance in organizing this event. The transfer of album books on Uzbekistan's epigraphy is a vivid testament to the implementation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's initiatives aimed at studying and popularizing the country's cultural heritage. WOSCU scholars have meticulously deciphered inscriptions on our country's monuments, and today, books published with government funds will become a valuable resource for all school libraries in the country. We are confident that these books will be an invaluable contribution to education and will help students better understand and appreciate Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage," noted the project’s author, WOSCU Board Chairman, Dr. Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
