Photo fact: Islamkhodja Minaret and Madrasah

This minaret and madrasah in Khiva were built in 1908–1910 by the reformist and enlightener statesman Islam Khoja.

Islamkhodja (1870–1913) was initially the governor of the Khazarasp region and served as Prime Minister from 1898 until his death. In addition to state affairs, he was involved in large-scale commercial and industrial affairs. This madrasah and the huge minaret were built with these funds and are known as symbolic structures that confirm the authority of Islam Khoja.

The large dome of the madrasah and the domes of the minaret were renovated in 1997 and gilded.

To this day, the Islamkhodja Minaret continues to amaze with its magnificence and beauty.
