A cultural dialogue was held at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan on the topic "Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan: common heritage, common values," during which Azerbaijan presented the Center with more than 150 books, national musical instruments, and a unique Karabakh carpet with symbolic meaning.
Akif Marifli, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Uzbekistan, participated in the event and noted that the cultural closeness between the two peoples has been formed over centuries, and cooperation is developing between the Azerbaijan Cultural Center and the Center of Islamic Civilization, which has been operating in Uzbekistan for 16 years.
– We have a thousand-year historical friendship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. This friendship began with Nizami Ganjavi and continued with Alisher Navoi, and today, thanks to the friendship and brotherhood between our Presidents, it is reaching an even higher level. The establishment of the Center for Islamic Civilization will create a solid foundation for uniting our common values, further enriching them, and passing them on from generation to generation. Islam is our spiritual and religious values. And Turkic is our identity and pride," he said.
Among the cultural heritage samples presented at the event, the unique Karabakh carpet, woven based on the "5" number, was the focus of particular attention. Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan, Professor Tursunali Kuziev said about this carpet:
– As a person who has been engaged in history for many years, I saw the Karabakh carpet for the first time today and once again felt that there are so many aspects of Azerbaijani culture that we still need to learn. As we study each of the common aspects in the history of our peoples, the commonality of the history of the two peoples becomes more widely manifested. Our wealth does not belong only to us. It is shared with the wealth of our friends.
