On November 13, a plenary session of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference was held in Samarkand. It announced the successful completion of the largest international forum held outside the Organization's headquarters for the first time in the last forty years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' press service reported.

Following the meeting, the General Conference adopted an official document entitled "Expression of Gratitude to the People and Government of Uzbekistan". The document expresses deep gratitude for the unprecedented support of the President of Uzbekistan, his high attention and personal participation in the organization and holding of the General Conference, as well as the hospitality shown by the people of Uzbekistan and the initiative to hold the high-level session.
Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of the 43rd session, Khondker Talha, expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the initiative to hold the session in Samarkand and for its high-level organization:

"It is symbolic that this session will be held outside UNESCO headquarters. It reflects our commitment to bringing UNESCO closer to people and managing this authoritative organization - to the communities and member countries we serve. This session allowed us not only to discuss the most important issues, but also to personally get acquainted with a unique opportunity that was impossible for many of us - the rich culture, heritage, and hospitality of Uzbekistan", he said.
The two-week dialogue and discussions were attended by 184 countries, 3 associate members, 20 non-governmental and partner organizations (the number of participants exceeded 4600, including 3 heads of state, 94 ministers, and 2340 delegates). It was noted that this was "not only diplomatic, but also spiritual experience" for them.
The Samarkand session opened a new page in the history of UNESCO. Confidence was expressed that the "Spirit of Samarkand", as a symbol of openness, trust, and mutual understanding, will be reflected in the upcoming meetings and initiatives of the Organization.
