Recently, employees of the "Sariosiyo" border customs post of the Surkhandarya Regional Customs Administration exposed an attempt to illegally export 267 ancient coins and jewelry parts from the territory of our republic.

According to the conclusion of the artistic examination conducted to determine the antiquity and value of these items, 39 silver coins in the form of hanging ornaments were minted in the Bukhara Emirate in the 19th century, and 228 pieces of jewelry were found to belong to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

"In the course of our official activities, we strive to prevent cases related to the illegal export of cultural heritage items. The confiscated items were transferred to various museums according to the current procedure and requirements. However, in some museums, we have witnessed cases where they were not displayed to people as exhibits, but were even kept in basements and chests. Therefore, we want these cultural treasures not to remain in museum collections, but to be displayed to our compatriots in the exposition of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan", said Committee Chairman Akmalkhoja Mavlonov.

The head of the Center of Islamic Civilization Firdavs Abdukhalikov, supported this initiative and proposal of the Customs Committee.

"Indeed, in the process of establishing cooperation with most museums, we saw that a lot of artifacts are in drawers. If, based on the initiatives and proposals put forward by the Committee, the expositions of the Center of Islamic Civilization are enriched with these exhibits, and we show them to our people and guests, it will be extremely beneficial and effective work. In this regard, the Center will create a special Working Group, which will prepare and study a catalog of exhibits and objects proposed by the Customs Committee. Because behind every fact lies history. And behind history, there can be great discoveries", - emphasized the head of the Center.

Within the framework of the event, the heads of both organizations signed a Memorandum "On mutual cooperation in the transfer of cultural valuables detained by customs authorities to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan".
