New archaeological sites of the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods have been discovered in the Jizzakh region

During the field research and survey work carried out in the northwestern part of the Nurata mountain range, located in the Gallaaral district of the Jizzakh region, a number of archaeological sites were identified. This was reported by the Cultural Heritage Agency.

 

Research work was carried out from April 28 to May 6 by employees of the Agency and the Stone Age Department of the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology named after Yahya Gulyamov.

New archaeological sites of the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods have been discovered in the Jizzakh region

Identified historical sites:

• The settlement of primitive people of the Late Paleolithic period in the western part of the village of Ugat;

• Two new settlements of the Neolithic period in the northern foothills of the village of Karapchi;

• A place called "Beshbulak" located north of Yonboshtut village.

 

These archaeological findings serve as an important step in studying the history of the life of the most primitive people in the territory of Uzbekistan. In the future, it is planned to prepare catalogs, articles, and exhibitions based on the scientific analysis of the finds.

Research is ongoing.
