The delegation was welcomed by Abdulaziz Alzeer, Head of the International Department, and Talal Alshamirs, Head of the Manuscripts Department. The researchers from Uzbekistan were shown unique manuscripts, calligraphy samples, archival documents, and artifacts related to the library's collections. It was noted that the library holds rare books related to the history of Central Asia and Uzbekistan. The guests were shown a book by Ibn Sina, "The Canon of Medicine," published in Italy in 1592, and a manuscript of "Sahih al-Bukhari" by Imam Bukhari, dating back to the 11th century. A copy of this manuscript will play an important role in enriching the collection of the innovative museum of Imam Bukhari in the future.
"We have many sources and rare books, but the most valuable ones are the works of the scholars of Mawarannahr. We are currently cataloging the existing collection, and we will need your assistance in our research. In return, we are also ready for any collaboration. We are especially pleased that this work is being carried out at the initiative and with the support of your head of state." - said Talal Alshamirs, Head of the Manuscripts Department.
At the end of the meeting, the next steps for cooperation between the Center and the National Library were discussed. On behalf of Uzbekistan, the library was presented with a 20-volume book series "Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan." The representatives were invited to the 8th International Congress of the World Society for Study, Preservation, and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), which will take place in August this year in Tashkent and Samarkand.
The representatives of the National Library highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan's educational sphere and expressed their gratitude for the gifted books.
