"Even in the days of your [holiday] «Guli surkh» thousands of the ill
Come and bring gifts, hoping [to be healed]"
So what is this flower? Or a reference to what holiday? According to researchers of the publication “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” of the project “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections”, the Guli surkh mentioned in the inscription is a reference to the spring flowering festival in the Bukhara Emirate.
Let us remind you: the mausoleum of Jahangir Mirzo (or Khazrati Imam) is the main monument of the architectural complex “Dar us-Sadat”, located in the city of Shahrisabz, Kashkadarya region, which Sharaf ad-din Ali Yazdi called “a very tall structure” in his work “Zafarname”.
You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "Architectural epigraphy of Uzbekistan. Qashqadaryo, Shahrisabz" of the series "Architectural epigraphy of Uzbekistan".
